Hi You,

There is a quote that I love, “A day without laughter is a day wasted,” by Charlie Chaplin. Do you have someone in your life that makes you laugh? I hope so. Not just laugh but truly let it out. The kind of laugh that hurts your cheeks from smiling so hard. The kind of laugh that suddenly you go silent and it feels like you can’t breathe. The kind of laugh that bring tears to your eyes. The kind of laugh that lasts so long you forgot how it started. Not everyone can bring this out in you, but I believe there are people out there that are your laugh soulmates. When we find those people, we need to hold on to them, they are true gifts.

Someone once told me that my laugh was contagious, I hold that dear to my heart, it was one of the sweetest compliments. Growing up my bother told me I cackled. But I guess it is a contagious cackle. I also always thought my sense of humor was a little odd, because one of the funniest things to me is people falling. Obviously not if they get hurt during the fall. But if I see someone walking down the street and they trip and just eat ground; I can’t help it. I’m a goner. Back in college, this happened all the time. The brick sidewalks in downtown Charleston would take you out. They refer to them as snipers, you don’t see it coming and then its too late. I remember walking to class with one of my roommate’s freshman year, she was just about to cross the street and all of a sudden, she wasn’t there! She was sprawled all over St. Phillips Street. She was ok. She quickly got up, put herself together, and kept going, as if it didn’t happen. This memory still gets me. Oh, and then there’s that, once I get started laughing, I can’t stop. Days, months, years later I’ll have a quick flashback and then I’m gone again. This used to be something that made me self-conscience and I would hide from. Not anymore. I love to laugh, it’s healing, it’s part of me.

I hope for you today was not a day wasted.

xoxo
